The audience for this advertisement is obviously going to be women and mainly women who care about their looks. This advertisement also targets those who do not spend the extra time in the morning to get ready. Dove is trying to catch the attention of everyday women who are tired of their appearance. Even girls who think poorly of themselves because of their appearance. On the right side you have very flat and lifeless hair. Also on this side, she has no make up. On the left side she looks like she is glowing confidence and thinks of herself as attractive. Also on this side she has her make-up applied. Her hair is very bouncy, shiny, and full of life. Her hair color is enriched and looks very healthy. So Dove is trying to say that this product makes you feel better about yourself. This picture also has a lot of contrast within the picture. On the right side you can see that the picture is darker and dull. It sets the mood as if she does not want to be seen. On the left side the picture is brighter and more vibrant. So now I feel like Dove is almost trying to say this product can make your life better: by brightening up your world, and making you have more self-confident, and start enjoying life. All because your hair now has more volume.
I cannot understand how women can care so much about their apperence. I do not see how one hair product could make you happy, and have a whole new outlook on life. Its sickening to see that women today think they need to be live up to a standard. By wearing make-up and, using hair products. What counts is on the inside and if a person cannot see that, why would women want to impressed them.
When I identify my self as a consumer I think of what I buy, where I shop, and what ads I listen to on television. I honestly think I am a smart consumer. I only buy items on sale and unlike many people in today’s society I do not have a bunch of fancy unnecessary electronics. I feel like most consumers are impulsive buyers and do not think of how their spending habits will affect them in the long run. Back to me as a consumer I normally shop at discounted stores such as: Wal-Mart, Ross, Safeway, Cosco, Target, and some times the GoodWill. It does not bother me to shop from these places because I know it is making me a smart consumer. I am not buying the newest ridiculous version of the Ipod or the newest brands of clothing. I get the necessities I need and try to make it work and survive in this world. Honestly I think people learn their consuming habits from the environment they were raised in. Some people are raised in a wealthy family, where the can buy what they want and not what they need. Other families are in poverty so they know how to bargain shop to get what they need for that month, and put everything else on the back burner. Things like couponing and clearance sales are natural shopping techniques to those who live in poverty. Consumers are also separated by what kinds of shows they watch. There are ads on different channels to try to target the type of person that would watch those shows. Consuming is an everyday thing and from here I feel like I can only become a smarter consumer.
Communication in the 21st century means to not only interact with people verbally but to also interact with other people using all different means of technology. In today’s world humans are so viral that communication is done by: texting, emailing, facebooking, phone calls, twitter and instagram. There is no face-to-face time unless you are skyping, but even then it’s not the same as being with that person in the moment. Now even letters are hard to come by. Society has us believing that the only “fun” part of our day is being on the internet checking out how everybody day is going, or there are some who seem to get on purely for drama starting reasons. People who get online just to ruin someone elses day. It is strange because people’s lives are being lived on the internet, then do not think to go drive over to a place to converse with their friends when texting is easier. The internet is just more convenient.
When somebody says what does it means to “learn how to write” a few things pop into my head. Like how difficult writing is and how if you do not know how to write your life would be very hard. Writing is such a huge part of or society that it has just become a neccessity for the United States. Other countries don’t get that privilege, but back to what it means to “learn how to write”. I think it means exactly what it says “learn how to write”. Do you remember learning how to write? I do, back in kindergarten learning the alphabet. Which is the fundamentals of writing. Also all those days in second grade tracing out the letters and learning cursive. Learning how to write is a process and can turn into something that people become very passionate about.
So yesterday Courtney Nyvall un enrolled from Washington State University, because her financial aid has not been processed. Which means she is leaving on Thursday. Today I helped her pack up here room and finalize the rest of the stuff here at Washington State. Today I somehow managed to fight back the tears, but I know that tomorrow will not be the same. When I put her belongings in the car I’m sure it will finally hit me that she’s leaving, and I will have no choice but to break down and cry. The part that hurts the most is that once Courtney goes back home. I know I wont see her again untill school is out in May. Also after that I’m getting married and moving away with my husband to start our new life. College was supposed to be our one last big thing we did together. We were suppose to go after our dreams and have the best time here. Not have to worry about money 100% of the time. Our plans for each other are falling apart. I have no idea what I will do, if I have to move on the other side of the United States. Courtney and I have been friends for a very long time, since 6th grade. My favorite memories of us in when we got stuck in a frog pond. Let me explain… Courtney and I were trying to catch frogs. So she was laying on the side of the pond with her head over the water. The next thing I know Courtney is screaming because there was a spider on the water. So naturally I ran over to her as fast as I could. I somehow managed to slip and push her in. I swear I did not do it o purpose. As I tried to help her out, I fell in and came back up covered in green slim. We tried so hard, for about five minutes to get out of this pond. At that moment Courtney realized her shoe was missing. Being the good friend I am I had to go underwater and find her shoe. Once I found It, we turned around to see that you can just walk out the other side of the pond. We felt so stupid. Her mom yelled at us for days because the one thing she told us was not to get dirty before we left the house. We have done a lot together throughout these past years and it saddens me to see her go. She is the one person here that I can go to in my time of need. She is the best kind of friend that anybody would be lucky to have. I hope that we have this strong of a bond once I move away.
