Technology and Inequality research
Any accounts from an event including, newspaper articles, journals, or for more current events video or recordings. But the one main detail about primary research is that it has to be an account from someone who was at the event, it cannot be from someone’s second hand information , the person has to be there writing about their own experience. When using primary research, the most beneficial times are writing about a local event, writing about a specific person or group of people, very recent events.
When beginning your research a few key question to as are what do I want to discover? How do I plan on discovering it? Who is my audience? Another thing to look at when collecting primary data is to check your source; by verifying that your primary source is liable could mean the difference between passing and failing your assignment. However sometimes evaluating and verifying bibliographic citations, aspects of evaluation, reading evaluation, and print is not always easy. When researching a single topic you may receive an overwhelming amount accounts to choose, that it is important to narrow down your topic to get the accounts you’re looking for.
When you begin researching your topic do not start by going to Google and typing in your key word, a better way is going to a library research site and trying to find information that way. For example by using WSU’s library research site you can find information that is currently located at the WSU campus, and if not you can request for the item to be sent to the campus library.
It’s Not Worth It!
Have you ever had ones of these energy drinks before? Many high school and college students drink energy drinks such as Red Bull, Full Throttle and Nos. Energy drinks are supposed to give you a boost of energy to help you stay awake and alert. Yet, this energy boost actually wears off in less than a couple of hours. When I was down at the market in my residence hall, I was looking at the energy drinks they sell and taking pictures of them for this blog post. I told one of the employees I was taking pictures of the drinks for my English research project. She became interested in why I was doing this and then told me that she was working the night when Kenny Hummel came in to the market to get an energy drink. That night he died. Kenny Hummel was a student at Washington State University who died of alcohol poisoning. The energy drinks he had that night also played a role in his death. Energy drinks can actually affect your body in many ways. If you read the nutritional facts on a Full Throttle can, like I did, you will find out that this bottle actually tells you not to drink this energy drink if you are under the age of 18 and that “too much caffeine may cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness and occasionally, rapid heartbeat.” It is also bad to mix energy drinks with alcohol. Energy drinks can cause you to gain weight, become dehydrated and can also mess up your sleep cycle. I think that students should really consider drinking less energy drinks. As long as you’re healthy, your energy will come from a balanced diet, exercise and rest.
What Does Music Therapy Look Like?
During my senior year in high school, I volunteered at a old folks day care. They had a music therapy session every other week and I had the opportunity to join those sessions.

Consequences of our Actions
At one time or another nearly every single one of you have played a sport or participated in some way. Some of you might not be directly related but that does not mean that you as an individual do not have an impact on sports because since all of us impact the environment we then have a connection with many sports. What I’m trying to get at is with many sports that are played today all over the world, many of them involve nature in some way. For instance the environment is crucial to the sport of skiing because it is very difficult to go skiing without snow. Another sport that is still connected to the environment but not as much as say skiing would be a sport like baseball where grass is used on the field but it doesn’t necessarily take away the game completely. There are many sports that are dependent on nature and its surroundings to ensure that the sport can be played or enjoyed as much as possible. However the way things are going currently it will eventually destroy much of the environment and change many things that we are accustomed to today.
I feel that it a good way to get people more interested in saving the world and nature in particular is to connect what consequences could happen to sports if things don’t begin to change. Since sports nowadays are huge in entertainment and things for people to do in their free time I believe that society would begin to change ways that they live if they knew that sports were in danger of going through some very large changes or even not being possible. For instance if rivers continue to be polluted then eventually there will be no more fishing at all and that would spread to lakes and larger bodies of water. If the water supply becomes so toxic that it is borderline dangerous then sports on any type of lakes will not exist like wakeboarding, tubing, jet skiing and most obviously swimming. Once water is no longer available then sports tat depend on grass of any sort will be changed greatly like golf or baseball. These sports will need to either change how they are played or find a replacement surface because taking those things away is a big deal especially with golf courses. By taking away one part of maintaining a field or course like water for instance you would basically be taking away golf and how it is played, and the same would happen to baseball fields.
Just these few examples show how much change would be made to multiple sports that we know today all because of what happens to the environment because of what we are doing. Society has to see that all the harmful things that we are doing are building on each other and making things even worse for the environment which are having consequences with things that many people enjoy very much being sports. By showing what effects our actions could possibly have it will be an awakening to people to start being more proactive or else they will know what will be the fallout and hopefully that’s enough motivation for them.
Feel Good Inc.
Primary research is first-hand information; it is a direct source. Business dictionary defines primary research as “Experiments, investigations, or tests carried out to acquire data first-hand, rather than being gathered from published sources.” A secondary source would be information from an article or a newspaper, rather than something observed or recorded directly from experience. For example, the observation of emotions before and after yoga would be a primary source for the mind/body connection. Any research directly related to how the mind and body are dependent upon one another would be a great source to use for my thesis. Another idea for research is a survey that asks participants to answer questions related to their physical and emotional well-being- questions like “When you are physically ill, what emotions does that provoke?” Even though each answer is unique, these questions will give us a better understanding and general awareness about the thesis. Interviews are also another great way to collect data when learning about the mind/body connection, since comparing the participant’s health and emotions will be essential in this process. Spreading awareness about the mind/body connection is crucial for a well-balanced, successful future generation. Understanding this connection and how to control it allows us to feel good on a day-to-day basis; and feeling good drives us to be hard working, passionate, and innovative. Nothing gets accomplished with a crummy attitude, luckily there’s an easy fix to this problem! The answer is reflecting on ourselves, our feelings and emotions, and how we can use the mind and body to help balance one another. I am confident we can make the world a smarter and happier place by taking action to teach society what it means to understand and perfect the mind/body connection.
I gotta speak in front of people…
This TED talk is inspired by a man named Tony Robbins, he a life coach and the “why” guy. He strives to know why people do the things they do and what motivates them. After watching that it got me thinking of a specific aspect of that which is the mental health of our youth and how they are being treated. So often kids from ages 5 to 18 are not getting the right help they need when they face ultimate pain. This pain can consist of when your parents are facing divorce to losing your whole family in an accident and everything in between. There are so many examples of kids that have these issues and never speak up because they are either embarrassed or not wanting to deal with it all and it is going to hurt every single one of them. People seek significance in their life, and I feel that when kids face pain so severe they look for this significance in the wrong way. I have met people that have this pain and there are several things they do about it, they continue to lie about other troubles that happen when they really haven’t because they got so much attention from the real troubles they have so it’s all they know, or they can never talk about anything and fall into drugs, drinking, or violence. Tony Robbins said that the easiest way to get significance is through violence because it will always be there and you can always get a reaction. I have found this to be true first hand because where I come from that is exactly how people find their significance when they have pain, where I come from there are 13 year old kids walking around with guns and knives ready to find their significance. I feel that this directly relates to the help many of these kids needs at a younger age, if a young child sees his older brother hold a gun to a man’s head and get a reaction then that is all that kid will know as he grows up, and it will be what he relies on as he gets older and older. It will become harder to break as every year passes and then trying to break this viscous cycle at the age of 18 will be next to impossible. I believe we need get that help everywhere and maybe even put emphasis on the areas where it is most likely to happen. We as a society can make a change but it starts with the youth because they are our future and they are screaming for help, we just can’t hear them and they don’t know their screaming for our help. There needs to be more effort, time, and money put into this if we are going to be able to make any kind of change within the kids and being able to help them with their ultimate pain.
